SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has shown its rejection of gender violence with a minute of rejection in front of the door of the Insular Palace after the murder of a 91-year-old woman at the hands of her partner, a 92-year-old man, in the town of War Valley, in La Laguna.
The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, stated at the end of the minute of rejection that the Island Institution will work in coordination with other administrations to act effectively in situations of violence against women.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council also observed a respectful minute of silence in memory and rejection of this new case of gender violence. The concentration, which took place at the gates of the Government Sub-delegation, allowed once again to express the solidarity of the municipality and the administrations with the family and people close to the victim, as well as to express the firm rejection of all manifestations of sexist violence. .
The victim did not have minor sons or daughters and there were no previous complaints of gender violence against the alleged aggressor. With this latest murder, there are now 105 confirmed femicides due to gender violence in the Canary Islands since 2003.
