SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has undertaken the renewal of the fleet of vehicles in the Natural Environment, Sustainable Development and Security Area, which includes both personnel transport vehicles and those dedicated to extinction of forest fires.

In total, six forest fire pump trucks have just been received, the investment of which has amounted to 1,820,940.00 euros, with a unit price per fire pump of 303,490 euros, as established in the contract awarded to the company Iturri SA

The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, and the Minister of the Natural Environment, Blanca Pérez, announced the new vehicles on Tuesday and highlighted the importance of the constant modernization of these important resources for the fight against fire.

“These trucks are incorporated into the park of the forestry brigades (BRIFOR) which is already obsolete: the maintenance of the vehicles was unsustainable for which they had to be given more capacity and renewed,” they pointed out.

It is expected that in the next three years the Cabildo renews the fleet through the acquisition of fifteen pumper trucks of three different types: heavy rural pumpers with a capacity of 1,700 liters; heavy rural pumpers with a capacity of 3,500 liters and heavy mother pumpers with a capacity of 10,000 liters.
