SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The jury of the Canary Islands Tourism Awards has designated this Monday Casa Rural Las Vigas, located in Arico, in Tenerife, with the award for Excellence in the Tourism Sector in distinctions that recognize each year the work carried out by people, companies and institutions in the defense, promotion, innovation and improvement of the quality and sustainability of the destination.

The deliberation on the different candidacies presented has corresponded to a jury made up of five experts of recognized prestige, three of them appointed by the Government of the Canary Islands and two by the Canary Islands Tourism Council, who in this edition have been José María Mañaricúa, Jorge Alexis Marichal, who has not appeared but has been replaced by Victoria López, Antonio Garzón, Alberto Ávila and Julio Gutiérrez.

The presidency of this jury corresponded to the Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jessica de León, who, in addition to congratulating the winners, stressed that “these awards are a well-deserved recognition of work well done and excellence.”

Casa Rural Las Vigas is managed by Pedro David Díaz, a great defender of caring for the environment who has become a benchmark and an example to follow for his good work in charge of his accommodation, which has its own farm and winery and offers guests visitors workshops and activities related to local history and culture.

In the category for the international projection of the Canary Islands and proposed by the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Las Palmas, the Hotel and Extra-Hotel Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Tourist Federation of Lanzarote, the distinction went to the Hotel Riu Oliva Fuerteventura Beach, a pioneering establishment in tourist activity on the island, which in the 1970s became a benchmark for quality national and Central European tourism.

The ceremony for the Canary Islands Tourism Awards will take place in a ceremony to be held next September.
