SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The national secretary general of the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), Fernando Clavijo, has announced that although it is still “very premature” to talk about agreements, the nationalist party maintains the red lines that it defended throughout the electoral campaign and is not going to support a government that includes Vox or Sumar.

This was stated in statements to the media after the National Executive Commission (CEN) of the Canary Islands Coalition, which today assessed the results obtained on election day held this Sunday and in which they obtained 114,718 votes and the act of deputy for Cristina Valido.

The national secretary general of CC acknowledged that the nationalist organization has initiated contacts with the PSOE, through the acting Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and the PP candidate himself, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, as well as with other nationalist forces with which they have exchanged views on the scenario that is being drawn in the Cortes.

Fernando Clavijo assured that the Canary Islands Coalition “is not with any ideological faction, we are with the Canaries” and maintained that if a serious government proposal for Spain is articulated and that is committed to the problems of the Canaries and Canaries, they will sit down to talk, as long as none of the extremes is part of the future government, he insisted.

Likewise, he recognized as “excellent” some results “in a very polarized scenario that CC managed to resist and guarantee the voice of the Canary Islands in Madrid.” In the same way, he recognized that yesterday’s appointment with the polls “leaves a quite fragmented Congress of Deputies, with a very complex arithmetic and that is going to force many negotiations and much dialogue.”

Clavijo stated that the more than 114,000 votes obtained by CC in these elections “will go solely and exclusively to solving the problems of our land and those of us who live here” and reiterated that Cristina Valido’s act “is the only guarantee that the Canary Islands have a free and independent voice in Madrid”.

For her part, the deputy-elect of the Canary Islands Coalition Cristina Valido emphasized the issues that must be included in any negotiation and that go through “compliance with the Canarian jurisdiction, regional financing, the financing to which this land is entitled, compliance with the Statute of Autonomy, also in respect of the powers that the Canary Islands have”.

In the same way, he added the aspects of the Economic and Fiscal Regime that “to this day are not fulfilled, such as the 100% discount on the costs of transporting goods, also incorporated by the nationalists into the PGE of 2023”

Cristina Valido addressed the role of the Canary Islands Coalition in State policy beyond the inauguration of the future President of the Government: “We nationalists will be very necessary for the approval of laws, including the General State Budget and we will always be willing to negotiate, as long as the extreme right or extreme left parties are not in the equation and as long as the Canary Islands win in that negotiation”.
