The company with 100% Canarian capital Autoreisen, leader in the rental vehicle sector, has been awarded for the second time as the best rent a car in the worldaccording to the ratings of the readers of the British newspaper Daily Telegraph, one of the most prestigious and oldest newspapers in the United Kingdom.

In this sense, the ‘Telegraph Travel Awards 2023’, which is what this initiative is called, invites its readers to share with the community their favorite cities, countries, travel agencies and tourist companies with which they have booked and the destinations they have visited. The last survey was carried out in 2019 and it was this year that the rent a car category was incorporated, considering that choosing the right car rental company is a very important part of having the best experience as a traveler. Thus, the readers’ prescriptions do not remain only in the accommodation or in the cities, but it goes a step further indicating which is the best option to rent a car during the holidays or on a business trip.

Autoreisen has been deserving of the ‘Best Car Hire Provider’ for the second time since this category was created, ratifying the quality of its services and consolidating its prestige in the rent-a-car sector in the Canary Islands.

The award was received by Antonio Cabral de Las Casas, the generational change of the family business Autoreisen, at the ceremony recently held in London, and where he attended on behalf of his father and founder of the company, Antonio Cabral Betancor. For them, this award means recognition for a long history of decades incorporating innovation and transforming many processes to adapt to new market needs.

Even more so considering that the reader survey was carried out wheno The tourism industry was suffering the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. coronavirus and struggling to get ahead. Thus, Antonio Cabral Betancor assured that “zero tourism forced us to rethink the entire business model, from the beginning a total stop and gradually, return to give an impeccable service. These have been some very hard years, where we have learned to adapt quickly to an unthinkable context, but from which we have come out stronger”.

Other categories

The awards include other categories such as best city, best country, best long-haul and short-haul airline, best tour operator, best railway network, best hotel group, best cruise company and best car rental company, among others.

The shortage in the 'rent a car' fleet leaves 20% of tourists without a car

On the other hand, Autoreisen continues to be the only Spanish company that has received this recognition since, although national hotel groups have been nominated on other occasions, the Canarian car rental company has once again been the only one to achieve this prestigious award. Likewise, Cabral Betancor insisted that “given our condition as an archipelago, mobility on each island is highly conditioned since we do not have other options such as a rail network on the mainland. That is why rent a car companies are practically the only option for our visitors, who are not only foreigners, but also internal tourism that travels a lot between the islands. Car rental is a sector with great added value for the tourism industry and, of course, for the Canaries themselves”.

The bet on R+i+D by Autoreisen This is reflected in other business lines that are already underway, such as Washalia, a solution for washing car mats that arose as a necessity to give exceptional customer service after each wash and is now being distributed worldwide thanks to a marketing strategy and positioning at fairs in the automotive sector. It is a vertical support made up of practical rotating baskets that facilitate the placement of the mats and comfortably allow pressure washing and drying on both sides.
