SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) denounced this Wednesday the intention of the “Conservative Government of CC and the PP” to limit the control capacity, demand for information and explanations and promotion of training initiatives.
The president of the group, Carmen Hernández, criticized the halving of Nueva Canarias, from two to one, the number of initiatives to present and the ownership of the spokespersons of the commissions in addition to the members of the Permanent Deputation.
For this reason, the NC-BC group will present a brief to reconsider this agreement of the Board and the Board of Spokespersons based on the representativeness held, the same five seats of the last legislature, “and the democratic right to exercise the voice of the citizenship it represents and political pluralism according to that proportionality”.
Based on the decision adopted this Tuesday by the government and representative bodies of Parliament, and apart from the oral question to the President of the Executive, Nueva Canarias, being the fourth group by the number of seats obtained on May 28, only may present an oral question to the rest of the Executive, the same as the groups with less representation.
Nueva Canarias, according to Hernández, will have the same capacity to present initiatives and have representatives in the different working bodies as the AHI with one seat or the ASG with three parliamentarians.
With the rest of the initiatives, that is, appearances, interpellations and non-legal proposals, among the main ones, the same reduction has been applied.
Thus, they indicate in a note that with the same five deputies as in the X Legislature and without respecting any proportionality, the NC has also been removed from the second representative in the permanent legislative and non-legislative committees of the Regulations, General Commission of Town Halls Insular, European Affairs and Foreign Action, the same as in the Permanent Deputation, it remains with a representative.
Carmen Hernández expressed her most “resounding rejection” of this change in criteria since it implies a “limitation” of the right of participation and exercise of the control function of the Executive.
“SKINNY FAVOR” TO DEMOCRACY
For the president of the group, with the restriction of the functions to be exercised by NC-BC, a “disservice” is done to democracy by restricting its “voice”, which represents “part of the people” who live in the Canary Islands, specifically 137,400 people.
The progressive canarians maintain that the Executive has the duty to respond in parliamentary headquarters and the Chamber, that of being able to exercise its control function “without restrictions” so that the Government is audited, in addition to promoting ideological pluralism by defending postulates other than those governmental.
“It is serious that the work of the opposition is restricted, a necessary exercise and the counterweight that any government needs in a democracy to carry out its work in a more transparent way. It cannot be forgotten that the groups represent society and that Parliament It is the channel for the participation of the Canarian citizens,” he added.
For these reasons, it indicated that Nueva Canarias will submit a document to the Board to review this agreement based on the representativeness held and the right to carry out the control procedures according to that proportionality.
