La Guancha makes the local government with more women from all over Tenerife

The City Council of La Guancha already has a new municipal government after the plenary session ratified the decree that establishes the organization and the distribution of powers of the new group chaired by the mayor, Antonio Hernández Domínguez (PP). It is the command team with the most women of all the consistories of Tenerifewith six councilors of seven components.

Antonio Hernández, in addition to the Mayor’s Office, assumes the areas of Economy and Finance, Water, Citizen Security, Human Resources, Planning and Inter-administrative Relations. María José García Luis is the first deputy mayor and will manage Culture, Citizen Participation, Commerce and Consumption, Municipal Press and Radio, Traffic and Road Safety and Municipal Services.

The second deputy mayor is Lorena Socas Rodríguez. She will be in charge of the areas of Heritage, Tourism, Festivals, Crafts, Parks and Gardens, and Internal Regime. Verónica Domínguez Suárez will assume the third term of office and will manage Works and Urbanism, Housing, Sports and Environment. Auxiliadora Marrero Álvarez will be the fourth deputy mayor and will be in charge of Social Welfare, Care for the Disabled, Senior Citizens, Health, the Primary Sector and the Farmer’s Market.

María Mercedes Báez Hernández will assume Youth and Drug Addiction, Cemeteries, Animal Welfare, Civil Protection and Emergencies, Protocol, Shelter and Playroom. For her part, María Jesús Vargas Mesa will lead the areas of Telecommunications and New Technologies, Training, Employment and Local Development, Minors and Family, Education, Library, Gender Equality and Violence Policies, Diversity and LGTBI+.

Of the seven members of the guancho government, three will be full time –María José García, Lorena Socas and Verónica Domínguez– and three others will have a 75% partial dedication –Auxiliadora Marrero, Mercedes Báez and María Jesús Vargas–. Antonio Hernández will not receive remuneration from the City Council, given his professional teaching status, dependent on the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.

CC denounces lack of planning

Canarian Coalition in the municipality of La Guancha denounces the “lack of planning” by the mayor, Antonio Hernández (PP), in the asphalting of the streets of the municipality. The nationalist spokesman, Alejandro Herrera, asked the local government to “pave the streets where the sanitation works have already been completed.” The nationalists regret that asphalting works are not carried out on streets where sanitation has been completed, citing the following areas: El Remate, Caldera street, Alhóndiga street, Cruz de los Claveles and Castillo. The nationalists consider that these actions are “affecting the daily life of all the residents and especially the commercial fabric of La Guancha Casco.” «The neighbors have been enduring the discomfort for months. We understand that these are necessary works, but also that this abnormal situation should end as soon as possible and return to normal life.” | DE
