SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, travels this Wednesday to the island of La Palma to monitor the effects caused by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano. This is the fourth visit that the president has made since the eruption began.

The President of the Government, together with the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, will attend the meeting of the Pevolca Steering Committee at 12 noon. At 1:00 p.m., he will appear before the media together with the president of the Canary Islands and the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano H. Zapata, to report on the eruptive situation and the measures adopted.

At 2:00 p.m., Pedro Sánchez and Ángel Víctor Torres will visit the Office for Aid to Those Affected by the La Palma Eruption, at Casa Massieu, in Los Llanos de Aridane.

An hour later, the Canarian president participates online in the plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions, which has planned a debate on ‘Natural disasters: response to emergencies and strengthening resilience in cities and regions’. The presence of the European Commissioner Janez Lenarcic, responsible for Crisis Management in the EU, is confirmed at the meeting.

At 4.30 p.m., the President of the Canary Islands will hold a meeting with members of the group affected by the La Palma volcano eruption, also at the Aid Office facilities, located at Casa Massieu, in Los Llanos de Aridane.
