The best routes for backpacking in Tenerife

Taking what is necessary, putting it in the backpack and going for a walk in the middle of nature is something that we are lucky to be able to do in Canary Islands practically throughout the year. The Tenerife trails They are especially beautiful for this and, for this reason, thousands of people choose the Island to spend their vacations and take advantage of their stay to go hiking among spectacular landscapes and totally far from what they find in their countries of origin.

The island offers everything from trails for beginners to the most experienced, with a beautiful waterfall or a hidden natural pool in which to take a dip. Undoubtedly, the very characteristics of the Island mean that its trails are highly traveled by nature lovers.

There are those who choose to do the walk with family or friends, others accompanied by their pets and there are also those who decide to walk alone -although this is the least recommended-. But if there is something that never fails, it is that they always go wrong with their backpack.

This is the complement that cannot fail on any walk, whether it is to carry water, food or a small first-aid kit… It always goes with us. In fact, this practice is defined in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy of Language as backpacking. And, following its definition, here we present some of the best routes of Tenerife for backpacking.

Cruz del Carmen – Punta del Hidalgo

In it Anaga Rural Park We find one of the most beautiful routes, both for the green of nature and for the views of the sea it offers. It is the path that goes down from Cruz del Carmen to Punta del Hidalgo. The route is of medium difficulty and has a maximum drop of 916 meters. Along the way you will pass through trail areas, forest tracks and some road areas. Undoubtedly, a perfect option to enjoy a panoramic view of the Anaga coast.

Also, nothing like ending a kick with a swim on the beach in the La Punta area.

Garachico – Chinyero Mountain

The route between garachico and Chinyero Mountain It is intended for the bravest. It is a fairly difficult trail, as it goes from a height of just 46 meters to a maximum height of 1,521 meters over a 17.7-kilometre journey. The path begins in Garachico, and ascends the Camino de El Lance to San Juan del Reparo, through volcanic flows that make up a landscape of great value.

On this journey it is absolutely necessary to go with a backpack as the best companion, since its high demand forces you to go with enough provisions.

After passing through La Montañeta, you arrive at the Arenas Negras and Montaña de Las Flores recreational area, where a tour begins circular around the Chinyero Volcano, between volcanic picon lava flows, passing through old centenary pines.
