The best canyoning routes in Tenerife

The ravines are a hallmark of Tenerife and since ancient times they were part of the life of the aborigines, who knew how to adapt to them to develop their day to day. The geographical characteristics of the Island have made these spaces one of the most beautiful and differentiating landscapeand more Tenerife trails They pass through these places where a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna can be observed.

Some routes that can be taken towards the coast or inland, but which are undoubtedly essential for all those who want to enjoy nature while practicing their favorite sport. For them, this time we present some of the best canyoning trails in Tenerife:

Hell’s Ravine

The Barranco del Infierno Special Nature Reserve It is one of those places that cannot be missed in Tenerife. It was so popular in the past that, currently, access is limited to 20 people every half hour, so it is necessary to reserve a ticket through the page www.barrancodelinfierno.es. The path lasts approximately three and a half hoursbetween the round trip, and the total length of the route is approximately 6.5 km.

Although the journey is not particularly demanding, it is extremely beautiful. Among the existing vegetation in the area are the tabaibal-cardonal or endemic species such as the chajorra itself. And among the fauna we can find snails and slugs, endemic insects or birds such as the kestrel or the eagle.

But, without a doubt, one of the greatest attractions of the path through the Barranco del Infierno is the final waterfall, one of the most photographed points of the trail.

Afur Ravine-Tamadite Beach

In it Anaga Rural Park we find the route that goes from the Barranco de Afur to the Tamadite Beach. This is one of the most beautiful trails on the island, since along the way you can find small waterfalls. The route begins in the Caserío de Afur and has a distance of about nine kilometers (round trip) and is of medium difficulty.

Masca ravine

Another of the most popular routes on the island is the Masca ravine. This trail has become a must for tourists and residents. The route begins in the Masca farmhouse and from there begins a descent through the ravine until reaching the beach. At present, it is a path for the brave, since at the moment there is no option to get to the beach and take a boat to Los Gigantes, but it is necessary to make the round trip, so the climb can be pretty tough. In addition, it is necessary to reserve a ticket in www.caminobarrancodemasca.com for access control. Likewise, the route is restricted to Saturdays, Sundays and holidays but, without a doubt, it is a totally recommendable route.
