The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutierrez (PSOE), and the president of the Corazones de Tejina Association, Miguel López, have signed a collaboration agreement to carry out a project for the protection, dissemination and promotion of the tradition of this great festival of the municipality, declared of Regional Tourist Interest and of Cultural Interest, whose next edition will be held from August 1. The Councilor for Culture and Festivals, Dailos González, was also present at the act of formalizing the agreement.
The Tejina Hearts Association It has been delegated by the Fiestas Commission for the organization of the activities that are proposed in this project, which will have financial support from the City Council, through the Culture area, of 10,000 euros. Among the actions included in the aforementioned project are the hiring of sign language interpreters, artistic production and awarding of prizes in different competitions.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez assures that the Hearts of Tejina are one of the festive and cultural manifestations deeply rooted not only in the Northeast Region and in the municipality of The lagoonbut on the island of Tenerife. “Guaranteeing the conservation of this intangible heritage asset and promoting the transmission of this legacy to the population in general and, in a special way, to the youngest, are the objectives of this project that deserves our full support.”
Some of the activities that will be carried out are Educate in traditions, to support the work of the San Bartolomé and Princesa Tejina schools, which traditionally make a heart on these dates; the Stories and Narrations, Drawing and Comic contest, Storytelling 2023, and the Exaltation of Hearts Festival.
