The patron saint festivities of Santa Úrsula look to the past and recover the Parade of Giants and Bigheads, a traditional act that was celebrated between the 50s and 80s of the last century and that on October 21 returns to the main streets of the town enlivened by the group The Vid Band.

This is one of the main novelties of this year’s festivities, which includes some thirty celebrations that will take place from October 14 to 24, some of which will be face-to-face but with limited capacity and for which prior invitation is required.

This was announced yesterday by the mayor, Juan Acosta, who presented the festive agenda accompanied by the Party Councilor, José Feliciano López and Damián Rodríguez Álvarez, author of the poster, in which you can see different shades of red and yellow and several leaves of vine, a characteristic crop of Santa Úrsula, thanks to which high quality wines are made and to which they have wanted to pay tribute. It is completed with a barrel with the images of Our Lady of the Rosary and Santa Úrsula, the church, the houses of the town and the traditional festivities.

Although more concise than previous years due to sanitary restrictions, the program of events will allow us to recover “joy, normality and the festive spirit,” said the mayor, who encouraged residents to enjoy the holidays “because they deserve ”but“ with responsibility ”.

The starting gun will be on Thursday with the reading of the proclamation that will be in charge of Jonathan Fernández Afonso, president of the Unión Tijarafe-Guanche fighting club. It will be at 8.30 pm, in front of the portico of the main church and will also feature a musical intervention by the singer Fabiola Socas.

The program, which can be consulted on the municipal website www.santaursula.es, also includes other outstanding proposals such as the Taburiente concert, which will be on October 16 and the Gastronomic Fair will also take place in the square; the Humor Festival with Aarón Gómez and Omayra Cazorla, which will take place on the 23rd at 9:00 p.m., or the first Chimaque Trail mountain race, which will take place on Sunday the 24th at 8:00 a.m.
