The Provincial Court of Tenerife has reached a compliance agreement whereby a former national police officer He accepts the sentence of 6 years in prison and the payment of compensation of 20,000 euros to the family of a minor under 13 years of age who he continuously abused.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Prosecutor’s Office requested that he be sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment and the same amount of money, but on the day of the hearing an agreement was reached so that the agent accepted his guilt, for which the Public Ministry agreed to reduce the sentence to more than half.
The most serious episode took place at the end of 2021 when the defendant took the minor to a street to practice the abuse, being aware of the consequences that this attitude brought with it and the psychological damage it could cause. Currently, the victim suffers from anxiety and depression that requires treatment by experts in these matters so that it does not affect their interpersonal relationships and their mental stability, both now and in the future.
The agent was a police officer in Cádiz and He arrived on the island after being provisionally suspended from his duties for remaining under investigation in another proceeding for sexual assault on a minor under 16 years of age and corruption of minors.
In Tenerife, according to the sentence, “he deployed a strategy to achieve sexual contacts with young people and for this he worked as a monitor in a soccer camp until in 2021 he became the coach of a La Laguna team.”
It was common for almost all the children he got along with to take a ride in his car, invite them to eat and give them money to buy sweets or drinks.
But over time he began to focus on one in particular with whom he began to have a more exclusive and almost obsessive relationship and began to pick him up at his home, called him “pichurri”, took him to the movies, to dinner and used to give him hugs, kisses , he sat him on his lap, raised him to his shoulders or held him by the buttocks.
The ruling indicates that the ex-policeman always sought, “as much privacy as possible” and for this purpose he took him to remote places, such as on one occasion when he moved him to a street and parked in a spot where there was no traffic or presence of people and then he began to maintain physical contact with the youngno.
The judgment of conformity considers proven that the defendant used formulas to manipulate the child by creating a sense of dependency and loyalty, making him jealous if he approached other minors and promising him progress within the soccer team or with gifts.
It was also common for him to give her money, share intimate issues of her life such as that she had been with another minor whom she had not wanted to testify against him for a crime or telling him that if they were separated he would become depressed, “in order to obtain sexual favors and also go unpunished ».
Little by little, the physical relationship began to be more intense and it was reflected in kisses on the lips, touching and treating him as if he were his sentimental partner, calling him “my perfect partner, my favorite baby” even confessing that he was in love with him or recriminating him if he did not like being kissed.
In addition to the prison sentences, he is also subject to absolute disqualification from voting, any job or public position during the time of the sentence and ten years of probation.
It also calls for a ban on approaching the victim or relatives within 500 meters or places where there are young people, not being able to carry out any activity with them for 22 years and participating in sex education programs.
By accepting the sentence of conformity, the convicted person agrees not to appeal it.
