Activated the orange and yellow warning in the Canary Islands for maximums of 40 degrees

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated in Canary Islands the orange notice (significant risk) and the yellow notice (risk) for maximum temperatures that in the coming days may reach 37 degreess and by adverse coastal phenomena, with winds of 50 to 61 km/h (force 7), as reported through its web portal.

This Tuesday, July 11, there will be a yellow notice in Gran Canaria due to maximum temperatures of 36 degrees that will especially affect the midlands of the west, south and southeast of the island, as well as the basin of tejeda. In addition, It is not ruled out that 37 degrees can be reached locally in mid-range points of the Island.

There will also be a yellow notice on Fuerteventura and Tenerife for maximums of 34 degrees, mainly affecting midlands and inland areas in the southeast of the Tenerife metropolitan area and inland areas in the south of Fuerteventura.

Starting at 10:00 p.m., the yellow warning will also be activated due to adverse coastal phenomena due to a northeasterly wind of 50 to 61 km/h (force 7) on the southeast and west coasts of Gran Canaria and the southeast coast of Tenerife, mainly offshore.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, July 12, the orange warning will be activated in Gran Canaria due to maximum temperatures of 37 degrees that will especially affect the midlands of the west, south and southeast of the island and the Tejeda basin, being able to locally reach 39-40 degrees in mid-range points.

In addition, there will be a yellow warning throughout the archipelago for maximum temperatures of 34 degrees that will affect inland areas in the southeast of the Tenerife metropolitan area, inland areas facing south of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and oriented to the south and southwest of the rest of the islands. Thermometers may also register maximums of 36 degrees in Tenerife, mainly in the midlands, and it is not ruled out that 37 degrees can be reached locally in points of southwestern midlands.
