The Day of the Chirche Traditions that makes it possible for this town of Guía de Isora to become, for a few hours, a place that travels back in time, specifically to the decade of the 40s/50s of the 20th century. Today, numerous houses that are closed the rest of the year have been opened to the public and in them scenes of daily life of those years have been represented, together with the field work that was carried out in the surroundings such as threshing , harvesting, coal burning, making tiles, etc. This initiative, which was launched in the year 2000, has paved the way for similar events in other municipalities.

The residents, dressed in the typical clothing of the middle of the last century, have once again recreated the most typical scenes of rural life of that time: field work, jets, washing clothes in the so-called smooth ravines. , the coal cellar, the elaboration and baking of bread, among others. An ethnographic rescue activity.

From 10:00 am onwards, attendees have been able to enjoy a day full of nostalgia and discovery, even witnessing live, incredible old-school staging and a traditional wedding.

The Guía de Isora City Council, in collaboration with the San Felipe Neri Neighborhood Association, provided free transportation for those who wished to attend the event. The buses left from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., approximately every 30 minutes, departing from the Plaza de Garachico in Guía de Isora, right in front of the cultural center.

This initiative celebrates its twenty-first edition this year, after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic. All this in an Isoran nucleus recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), which in each edition hosts different activities with the aim of rescuing and promoting the heritage of the municipality.

The mayoress of Guía de Isora, Ana Dorta, has inaugurated her term as such with this event, which she has described as a “resounding success”, for which she has congratulated the San Felipe Neri Neighborhood Association, which “intends to preserve, promote and to publicize everything that has identified the town of Chirche and Guía de Isora, for which reason it has the collaboration of the City Council”.

Ana Dorta has assured that she feels “very happy because in this twenty-first edition we are once again the center of popular traditions, which we are going to continue promoting.”

The mayoress of Guía de Isora has recalled that the organization of the program of events corresponds to the association and that the city council collaborates both in the logistics to make it possible and with the transport of residents and visitors to the nucleus.
