Arona Gran Hotel, from the Spring Hotels group, was the establishment chosen by Bowfinger International Pictures, the producer of the film Summer Vacation ––already in cinemas throughout Spain–, to become one of the main stages of this new story in which the actors Santiago Segura and Leo Harlem give life to two somewhat peculiar hotel entertainers.
Directed by and starring Segura himself, along with Harlem and the children Sirena Segura, Daniela Pintado, Javier García and Hugo Simón, the film tells the story of two friends, Óscar and Félix, who when they lose their employment they are forced to accept a temporary job as children’s entertainers in a luxury hotel. Both divorcees are forced to take their children with them during the summer month, a circumstance that is difficult for them to combine with work. They decide to take the children and hide them in the hotel, hiding in the employee area. As often happens in comedies, the plan turns out to be a disaster.
History has been written with four hands by Marta gonzalez de Vega and Santiago Segura, also screenwriters of the blockbusters of the sagas Padre no hay más que uno and A todo tren. Summer vacations has the participation of Netflix and Atresmedia Televisión.
For the filming, which took place between Madrid and Tenerifethe cast of actors and the production team moved to the south of the island and turned the Arona Gran Hotel into their base of operations.
The tape has a family approach although it can be enjoyed by all audiences. “We made an exception to record with children because this is an adults-only hotel, but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to have a place in the film industry with the illusion that it made us.” Alexia Oliva, the director, affirms it. She recalls that, within the Spring group, the Bitácora is the one that would best suit this profile of a family customer, but “the Arona fit the shooting needs better.”
