Canary Islands Coalition (CC) candidates for the Congress of Deputies for the province of Santa Cruz de TenerifeCristina Valido and Guadalupe González Taño, have demanded this Wednesday that the State immediately transfer the 1.5 million euros for the implementation of a Mental Health Plan for The Palman item that “is agreed in the General State Budget and that, at present, has a zero level of execution.”
The nationalist candidates held a meeting with the dean of the Official College of Psychology of Santa Cruz de TenerifeCarmen Linares, to analyze the current situation of the sector and on the mental health situation in Canary Islands.
In this sense, Valido assured that La Palma “has suffered, the palmeros and the palmeras are suffering and their problems have not been resolvedand for this reason it is not possible to understand how it is possible that the 100 million Reconstruction Plan for the island or the 1.5 million euros for that very important Mental Health Plan have not yet been reached.
“That million and a half euros is much more urgent than the billions announced by Pedro Sánchez for Catalonia, billions in response to Esquerra while we have to continue demanding a million euros for the palm trees and the palm treesValid denounced.
For Guadalupe González Taño, “in La Palma we have a devastated population that cannot face the remains of the future and people who are throwing in the towel every week”.
Emergency on La Palma
Along these lines, he said that from CC they prioritize this issue in the PGE, hence they managed to 1.5 million euros to start a Mental Health Plan for the Island“but that money has not arrived yet and its level of budget execution is zero”.
In your opinion, “La Palma and those affected continue to be an emergency, we have to continue working with them so that they can face a future with guarantees“.
Likewise, Valido and González Taño demanded that the Government of Spainthrough the Ministry of Health, that “finance the incorporation of psychologists to the autonomous communities to Primary Care health centers, and that they are also included in the emergency protocols so that they activate from the first moment”.
For Valido, “when the pandemic, there were many voices warning of a mental health pandemicthe population needs psychological support and it cannot be that only those people who can pay for it receive it”.
