The municipal government of Güímar raises its salary by around 10,000 euros gross per year

The new government team in the City Council of Guimarmade up of 11 councilors who total Canarian Coalition (CC), the Socialist Party (PSOE) and Unidas Sí Podemos (USP), around 10,000 euros gross per year have been raised.. The mayor, Gustavo Pérez (CC), will go from charging about 2,400 euros a month to about 2,800, and the councilors will receive 2,400 euros per month. Specifically, the Güimarero councilor will receive 58,080 gross euros per year. ANDThe Consistory clarifies that these salaries are below the limit allowed by current regulations.

The mayoralty in Güímar will receive 46,500 gross euros per year. In the case of the mayor Nayra Caraballero (USP), she will donate the net surplus with respect to her salary as a teacher, as applied by Izquierda Unida in its code of ethics. For the rest of the councils that make up the municipal government, a regime of 46,000 euros gross per year will apply..

The Consistory informs that two exceptions will be applied. In the case of Airam Puerta (PSOE) and Juan Delgado (CC), who have a 75% dedication regime, they will receive 830.36 euros more for the 46,500 euros gross per year, “due to the degree of responsibility of the areas that they manage”. “These are essential services, such as Urban Planning, the Water Supply and Environment Service, in the case of Puerta, and Cleaning Services, in the case of Delgado,” municipal sources point out.

Regarding the increase in salaries, the local Corporation indicates that these are adjusted to the population increase that the municipality has experienced. «In 2013, in a context very different from the current one, with less than 19,000 inhabitants and the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI) estimated at 645 euros, the Mayor’s Office received 2,459 euros per month net in 14 payments, while the first deputy mayor received 2,780 euros. In 2018, the mayoress, Carmen Luisa Castro Dorta (PP), without Güímar reaching 20,000 inhabitants and with an SMI of 735 euros, earned 2,438 euros net, also in 14 payments. The mayor who earned the most had a salary of 2,377 euros. Now, in a municipality with more than 21,000 inhabitants and with an SMI of 1,080 euros, the mayor will receive a net of around 2,800 and the councilors, about 2,400 euros.

On the other hand, and as reported by the Güimarero City Council, the nationalist Javier Eloy Campos and the socialist Alicia Lorenzo (PSOE) will not have the status of released councilors, so they will only receive allowances for attending plenary sessions and commissions, “which are not will receive the rest of the government group. These allowances will also be charged by the opposition councillors.

In a statement, the new municipal government announces that the plenary session to be held this Wednesday, July 5, will endorse the distribution of areas that make up the management of the City Council, the salaries and the dedication regime of the councilors.
