The best routes with historical places in Tenerife

It is an old Canarian-style country house which was declared of Cultural Interest in 2003 and which is supposed to have been the home of the famous Tenerife pirate. At present, it is practically in ruins, but from this point you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the south coast of Tenerife.

Castro Boulevard

in the municipality of The Realejos is the path of the Castro Boulevard, a simple route suitable for any walker that will not only surprise you with its views of the sea, but also with one of the landmarks along the way. In the middle of this route, which begins at the Mirador de San Pedro, are the ruins of the water lift of La Gordejuelawhich have been selected as one of the most beautiful in the world by the Civitatis tourist portal.

The work of the water lift marked a milestone in its time -it was completed in 1907-, since it allowed the lifting of water towards banana plantation areas of Los Realejos in a place that was complicated by the terrain itself. It was owned by the hamilton familywho had established himself on the Island in the 19th century, who made one of the most important investments of the time, becoming a unique structure in Canary Islands. Besides, the fire station It had the first steam engine in Tenerife, which the Hamiltons brought from England.

In the municipality of Arico we find a simple circular route that goes from Porís de Abona to Abades. During the journey, you can enjoy the views of the sea while enjoying the arid landscape of the south of the Island. But, in addition, halfway between the two towns is the old leper colony.

This space was designed by the architect Marrero Regalado in 1940 to accommodate leprosy and tuberculosis patients. The work took six years, but it was never inaugurated for different reasons.
