The builders demand that “Tenerife ceases to be the eighth island”

“We want to Tenerife cease to be the eighth island of the Archipelago and a subsidiary of Gran Canaria, we say so clearly ». Óscar Izquierdo, president of the construction association of the Tenerife province, anddemand the new Government of the Canary Islandswho will preside Fernando Clavijo (CC), that “give top priority to Tenerife” in view of the mistreatment that, in his opinion, the Island suffered with the previous executive of the flower pact (PSOE, Podemos, Nueva Canary IslandsASG)

“Positive discrimination must be applied to Tenerife to make it equal to Gran Canaria”

Oscar Izquierdo

In a reflection sent to the media, The president of the Provincial Federation of Construction Entities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Fepeco) asks the new regional Executive, made up of Canarian Coalition and the People’s Party that it leave behind the mistakes made with Tenerife and that “it has prevented the development of important infrastructures for the Island”.

«Those who are going to take over the Government in our land, at all its territorial levels, in most cases are people with extensive experience, who know perfectly well where they are going and what they have to do, knowing the mistakes that have been made. committed, some on purpose and others on purpose, to strip Tenerife of all its potential, leaving it as the eighth island of the Archipelago and a subsidiary of Gran Canaria”, says Óscar Izquierdo.

«Errors, made on purpose, leave Tenerife as a subsidiary island of Gran Canaria»

Oscar Izquierdo

“There is no balance”

For the main spokesperson for the construction sector in the Tenerife province, “There is no true regional balance.” “On the contrary,” according to Izquierdo, “our beloved island is harmed, preventing it from growing and progressing normally.” “It is time to demand [a los nuevos gobiernos regional e insular] a real and verifiable inter-island parity, in all areas, especially between the two capital islands. To make it possible, the president of Fepeco believes that “positive discrimination must be applied in favor of Tenerife to make it equal to Gran Canaria, which has artificially and self-interestedly advanced it for decades.” «This mistake cannot be repeated by the same public officials; It would be to stumble twice on the same stone, which would make his behavior suspicious », he makes it clear.

“Let’s hope that the demands are met and they do not remain empty words”

Oscar Izquierdo

“We hope that these demands are met and that everything does not remain empty words and broken promises,” says Óscar Izquierdo, adding that he hopes that the new rulers “will gallantly face, once and for all, the basic and structural problem that we suffer , which is a public administration that does not serve the needs and demands of citizens, businessmen and the Canarian productive system.

“A new phase begins. politics in the Canary Islandswith a coalition government between nationalists and popular, adding insular parties from La Gomera [Agrupación Socialista Gomera de Casimiro Curbelo] and El Hierro [Agrupación Herreña Independiente]», Izquierdo points out, to conclude: «It is always exciting to start any activity, and more so if it is the governance of public affairs, where everyone has hopeful projects, to start them, carry them out and conclude them, before the end of the legislature» . Faced with this challenge, Izquierdo wishes them luck and, above all, that they “prioritize the historical demands of Tenerife.”
