SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The professor of Physiology at the University of La Laguna Aldo González Brito has joined the Advisory Committee of the Insular Emergency Plan of La Palma (Peinpal) this Monday with the aim of contributing his knowledge in the control and recovery after the volcanic emergency. He has also been urged to join this body to representatives of Public Health, with whom it is expected to address, among other issues, the presence of gases in the coastal towns of Puerto Naos and La Bombilla.

In this sense, the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, wanted to highlight the commitment they have acquired with those affected by the eruption: “We said that we would provide transparency to the management and that we were going to have new points of view from experts, because we want to analyze the situation of gases and the infrastructures that we still have to recover in a broad and participatory manner The presence of Professor Aldo Brito is a sign that we are taking firm steps towards a different policy, more open and close, to get closer to a future in which neighbors can return to their homes,” he said.

After having participated in Pevolca sessions, Sergio Rodríguez considered it “essential” that the La Palma scientist can also present his theories in this other forum, currently in charge of managing the emergency. Thus, Rodríguez stressed the commitment of the insular institution to the victims, “setting ourselves the goal of achieving social and economic recovery, not only of the Aridane Valley, but of all the inhabitants of the island that have been hit, in a way or another, by a devastating natural phenomenon”.

Apart from the actors already mentioned, this Monday morning technical members of the Cabildo de La Palma, the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration, the National Geographic Institute (IGN), the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN), the Geological Institute and Minero de España (IGME), University of La Laguna (ULL), University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Endesa. In addition, members of the Government groups of the municipalities of Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso and Tazacorte, and the Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of La Palma attended.
