The Teobaldo Power Auditorium in La Orotava hosted the act of tribute to the painter and sculptor Antonio Otazzo, who was born in 1929 in La Orotava and died at the age of 91 in July 2020, murdered at his residence in the city of Cagua, in the Venezuelan state of Aragua, where he emigrated in search of a better life. It was one of the greatest contemporary artists of our time and he is known as The Dalí of America because of his sense of art and pictorial style. He received, posthumously, the distinction as Villero de Honor for his artistic career and having carried the name of the Villa de La Orotava all over the world through his cultural work close to surrealism in its different disciplines of painting and sculpture. This recognition was agreed unanimously by the groups of the municipal corporation in the plenary session held in February.
