The airport manager Aena has identified seven airports in Spain where the company’s old brands they have not yet been fully retired, despite a redesign of the logo ten years ago.
These airports are those with the highest passenger traffic, such as Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Gran Canaria, Tenerife South and Miguel Hernández Alicante-Elche.
To address this situation and avoid the confusion that it can generate, Aena has launched a public tender to carry out an audit at these seven aerodromes.. The objective is to obtain a detailed report on the presence of elements of the old corporate visual identities and to assess the cost of removing and replacing the old brands. It is estimated that the audit contract has a value of 50,000 euros and a duration of five months.
Internal audit
Aena recognizes that in most airports the removal of old brands has already been completed, especially in smaller airports where the process is simpler. However, in larger airports, due to their size and complexity, it is necessary to identify where the old markings are still locatedwhat materials were used and if it is necessary to replace them, evaluating the cost of their removal and replacement.
The report of the audit will detail all the elements with the presence of the old brand found in the airport terminals and their accesses, including outdoor and indoor areas. In addition, an economic assessment of the removal and replacement will be made when necessary.
Aena changed its name from Aena Aeropuertos to Aena in 2014 during the company’s privatization process. Since then, a new corporate image design has been used, focused on the color green with environmental connotations. This image change also implied the definitive separation of Aena from the Air Navigation operator (Enaire), which currently controls 51% of Aena, while the remaining 49% is listed on the ibex 35 since 2015.
