The Tenerife Island Operational Coordination Center (CecopinTF) has reported that a forest fire outbreak has been declared in the Pista Lolita area, at the intersection with Pasada de Las Vacas, in the Icod el Alto area, within the municipality of Los Realejos.
The Forestry Brigades of the Tenerife Council are currently working in the area to try to control the flames. They have the help from the air of a helicopter, which also participates in the extinction work. On 1-1-2 the Canary Islands received the notice of the attempt at 5:47 p.m.
Sources from the Los Realejos City Council have indicated that the work carried out by the forestry brigades has allowed the flames to no longer be seen although there is still a lot of smoke. The fire started in an area located in the same environment in which in the month of July 2022 a fire broke out that affected several municipalities in the north of Tenerife.
The mayor, Adolfo González, in statements to Canarias Radio, has indicated that it is not an inhabited area, although at dawn some eviction of animals has been carried out for prevention.
