The administrations claim sexual freedom and deplore homophobia

l Cabildo, various town halls and social organizations of Tenerife celebrated LGTBI+ Pride Day this Wednesday, at a time when political parties and ultra-conservative associations promote an offensive against sexual freedom in the world. In fact, in some of the events held on the Island there were mentions of this attempt to delegitimize the LGTBI+ movement by groups such as Vox, which has entered the administrations with force Canary Islands after elections last May 28.

José Julián Mena, former mayor of Arona and leader of the Arona socialists, recalled that in various municipalities of the country agreements have been reached to eliminate the LGBT+ flag in public spaces, which, in his opinion, “represents a clear attitude of discrimination and denial of the rights of the LGTBI+ community. “That this act has not been carried out in Arona causes us concern,” Mena clarified about the absence of events organized by the City Council. In general, the institutions claimed sexual freedom and deplored homophobia.
