Canarian CoalitionSocialist Party and United Sí Podemos reach an agreement to govern the Güímar City Council during the 2023-2027 term. DC, PSOE and USP add 11 councilors, the necessary to reach the absolute majority that this Consistory requires for the first time, which increases the representation of the Plenary to 21 councilors.
This agreement keeps the nationalist Gustavo Pérez as mayor of Güímar for the next four years, while the second Tenure of Mayor will be occupied by the socialist Airam Puerta, being the third for the only councilor of United Sí Podemos, Nayra caraballero. The fourth tenure of Mayor will correspond to the Canary Coalition, too.
The heads of this tripartite list finalized the final agreement late this Friday afternoon, the eve of the constitution of the town councils (Güímar will celebrate it at 11:00 this Saturday), in a meeting they held at the headquarters of El Empaquetado, a center created by IUC in Arafo as an alternative space of a social, cultural, educational nature and a meeting point for the entire Güímar Valley community.
CC, PSOE and USP Thus, they leave in the municipal opposition the political party with the most votes in the municipality on May 28: the Popular Party, led by Carmen Luisa Castrowhich obtained nine councillors, while CC obtained five, the same as PSOE (but with more votes), while USP and Nueva Canary Islands They will be in plenary session with one mayor each.
