Rubens Ascanio sees it as “feasible” to close a progressive government, although he warns that they will not give Luis Yeray Gutiérrez a “blank check”

LA LAGUNA (TENERIFE), June 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Drago Verdes Canarias and Unidas se Puede, with two councilors each, have shown this Friday their “predisposition” to reach a progress pact with the PSOE in the La Laguna City Council but at the same time they have warned that they are not going to “give away ” the Mayor to Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.

In a joint press conference of the electoral candidates of both formations, Alberto Rodríguez (Drago Verdes) pointed out that “what the people voted for at the polls is clear” and for this reason, since the second councilor for Drago Verdes was guaranteed, the two organizations have worked with “will, seriousness and discretion” in a programmatic agreement of 250 points.

He has indicated that “it has been very easy” to reach a programmatic agreement with United You Can and in the midst of a context in which they have had to “resist and live with lies” such as that Drago Verdes “had demanded 200,000 mayoral tenures and 800,000 government areas”.

Along these lines, he has pointed out that “an attempt has been made to condition the negotiation by sending a false message to the public” as if Drago Verdes “were in a battle of armchairs” when what it is about is setting a program “with deadlines” and a government structure.

Rodríguez has insisted that they are not going to “give away the Mayor’s Office” to the PSOE because that “is not what the people voted for”, who opted for “majority support for diversity” that must now be expressed “at all levels “.

He has not hidden that the PSOE “wants to lean to the right” and may have a pact “that he does not dare to make explicit” and that, in his opinion, “would be a monumental error, a democratic error” since the PSOE was not voted for “so that it configures a government to the right”.

He has also indicated that a “brave and progressive” pact must be signed in La Laguna, with measures that “attack at the root” the problems that exist in access to housing and public services, in such a way that he has insisted on declaring to the municipality as a stressed area to stop the increase in rental prices.

Rodríguez has insisted that the progressive pact “is in the hands of the PSOE”, calling it “inconceivable” that having “full predisposition” of Drago Verdes and United, “the PSOE has not decided” 24 hours after the decision possession.

“If there is no pact for progress to say it with courage, the hand is still outstretched, the ball is in the PSOE’s court,” he explained.

The leader of Drago Verdes has warned that “under no circumstances” will the PSOE or other forces be given the Mayor’s Office “if there is no programmatic agreement” and understands that the Socialists are making a mistake with their strategy.

“WE DO NOT WORK BECAUSE OF PRESSURE OR BLACKMAIL”

“We do not work due to pressure or blackmail, if what it is about is a turn to the right, they are going to have a very tough opposition,” he pointed out.

Ascanio has indicated that “it is feasible” to reach a majority agreement in La Laguna because “there are no red lines” or any “possible excuse”, but rather a “long look” in the general interest of the municipality.

He has said that they are not going to give the PSOE a “blank check” without knowing the government program, which in his opinion should include “feasible and realistic projects” such as the purchase of homes or the development of the mobility plan.

Likewise, he has reproached the PSOE for having only met twice with the negotiating commissions where he has also asked to “vote first” and the agreement later, stressing that La Laguna would be “the exception” in the Canary Islands where a progressive pact is not signed. “There have only been two meetings and they only ask if we are going to support Luis Yeray,” he pointed out.

Ascanio has insisted that they care “quite little about the armchairs” and what they want is to achieve “a viable and majority government.”
