The Canary Islands Coalition and the Socialist Party have sealed a governance pact this Thursday in the Garachico City Council, which will again grant the mayoralty to the nationalist José Heriberto González.
As confirmed by both political formations in a statement, “after the local elections on May 28, where the citizens of Garachico have not granted an absolute majority to the candidacies that ran for them, from the Canary Islands Coalition and the Socialist Workers Party In Spanish, we understand that a governance pact of the Garachico City Council is necessary to provide stability to the institution”.
In the text, CC and PSOE recall that the pact has been “endorsed by the vote of more than 1,800 Garachiquenses, representing 63.19% of the electoral result, and adding seven councilors to the Government group.”
“We are totally convinced that the municipal government of Garachico must continue in a climate of respect and dialogue, with a cohesive government group, where those responsible for each area work cross-sectionally, facilitating as much as possible the understanding and proper functioning of the councilors who form the same ”, they add.
“In the Canary Islands Coalition and the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party we agree to work for a cohesive Garachico, without tension, with a line of work for and for the well-being of our neighbors, which contributes to the growth of our municipality,” they conclude.
