The town center of the Historic Villa of Granadilla de Abona was dressed in locality and tradition to celebrate in style the 45th edition of its pilgrimage in honor of San Antonio de Padua, one of the oldest pilgrimage events in the region and on the island of Tenerife, which registered a large number of participants, more than 8,000 peopleaccording to the calculations of the City hallin addition to 15 floats, about thirty cars and numerous folkloric groups.

Eudita Mendoza thanked the participating groups and floats for their involvement, as well as the large number of people who came to enjoy one of the most important pilgrimages on the island calendar. The acting councilor also had words of congratulations for the decoration of facades, balconies and shops, and “dressing our town with tradition”. Likewise, she encouraged the population to continue being an active part in the different events scheduled until June 17.
It should be remembered that the craft and gastronomy fair was also held last weekend, which brought together more than twenty artisans in the church square, a framework in which the ‘Granadilla Artesana’ distinction was presented to Giomar Zurita, who makes canary openwork, rosette, palm embroidery and looms, for his work and career in the recovery and conservation of our traditional trades.
