SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Throughout this month and next July, the Red Cross is organizing various leisure, sports and cultural events in the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna aimed at different audiences and open to all those interested in participating.

The first planned activity will be on June 18 with the I Motorcycle Route, organized by the Local Assembly of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with a tour that will begin at 9:00 a.m. from the Maritime Park (in front of the Plaza del Castillo Negro), going through Las Teresitas beach and Anaga zone and concluding with lunch in Las Mesas Park.

The cost of participation is 15.75 euros and includes a welcome pack, supplies, lunch, accident insurance and three Red Cross Gold Draw tickets. Those who wish may register through the web: https://www.avaibooksports.com/inscripcion/i-ruta-motora-ben…

On June 30, the Ashotel employers, together with the Provincial Office of the Red Cross in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Cooking Class of the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey hotel, organize the sixth edition of ‘Little Chef Solidario from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ‘, a healthy cooking workshop aimed at boys and girls from 7 to 12 years old.

This edition has the chef Juan Carlos Clemente as a teacher of the workshop. In addition, as a novelty, a workshop will be offered for accompanying adults on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and techniques to act in the event of choking in minors, ending with a cocktail.

The cost of the activity amounts to 25 euros, including five Golden Draw tickets as a gift. Registration must be made at the provincial headquarters of the Red Cross, at Calle San Lucas, 60. For more information you can contact Tel. 922 282 924 ext.63468 or email: [email protected]

On the other hand, the Red Cross, together with the Insular Cycling Federation, organize the II Cicloturista, a bicycle march that will take place on July 1 with a circular route of 44.7 kilometers. The starting point will be in the Plaza de La Concepción, in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, at 09:00 am and will pass through Tegueste, Punta del Hidalgo, ending again in La Laguna.

The cost of participation is 21 euros and includes registration, accident and RC insurance, supplies, participant’s bag, four Gold Draw tickets and participation in the draw for various gifts. In addition, a playroom service is offered for the little ones. Registration: fictenerife.com

Lastly, on July 17, the Lyrical Gala ‘Zarzuela’ will be held at 8:00 p.m. at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna. Tickets can now be purchased at the box office or through the website Tickety.es

The objective of these initiatives is to raise funds to strengthen the social work of the Red Cross with the most disadvantaged groups in our society: children, the elderly, people in extreme vulnerability, women in social difficulties and the unemployed, among others.

Therefore, these actions represent an opportunity for the Red Cross to be where it is most needed. Vulnerability can be where there is an elderly person who feels alone, a woman who suffers gender violence, a boy or girl who does not have the resources to study, a refugee who flees violence and hunger in his country, a family who does not have hot water, a woman who does not have the same opportunities at work or all the people who suffer from a climate emergency.

Last year, the Organization attended 114,757 people in the Canary Islands, with whom a total of 588,152 interventions were carried out. Of these, 65.6% percent were assisted from the Social Inclusion area, especially people in situations of extreme vulnerability.

As previously mentioned, the participants will receive tickets for the Red Cross Gold Raffle that will be held on July 20, opting for more than 11,700 prizes valued at more than 7 million euros (3 million euros for the first prize; 1 million euros for the second prize; 500,000 euros for the third prize; 250,000 euros for the fourth prize; and 100,000 euros for the fifth prize).
