After a week of negotiations after the municipal elections, Tacoronte, San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha are three of the seven municipalities that are pending a government pact that have already managed to close with a sufficient majority to give stability to their respective municipalities over the next four years.

Thus, Tacoronte will repeat another mandate a tripartite government, but with the PSOE, CC and PP. The Socialists have been the force with the most votes and the mayor’s office will fall on them, which will be for the first time for a woman, Sandra Izquierdo, who will occupy the chair that will be left by the acting mayor, José Daniel Díaz (NC). The details of the agreement will be announced today, but the truth is that municipal sources pointed out that “there has been a very good harmony”, even for the distribution of the areas, given that “they were designated by the profile of each person, not of randomly” and, therefore, “the pact starts off on the right foot and talks a lot about loyalty so that this mandate does not happen.” In total, there will be 12 councilors, five from the PSOE, four from the CC and three from the PP, although not all of them will be exclusively dedicated, as confirmed by the same sources.

Also in La Guancha, the force with the most votes in the elections on May 28 will govern, in this case the PP, after the agreement sealed with the representative of the PSOE to form a government until 2027. The six councilors of the formation, led by the mayor acting, Antonio Hernández, and the head of the Socialist list, María José García, have closed an agreement designed to provide stability and teamwork, “with transparency and coordination.”

With the agreement reached, Antonio Hernández will repeat as mayor for the third consecutive term, while María José García will occupy the first mayoralty. The areas of the municipal government will be designated by mutual agreement after the constitution of the Municipal Corporation, on June 17.

The two political forces come together to work on what they consider “a government of stability, focused on people and on the materialization of projects that allow strengthening the path of prosperity and progress that the town deserves.” Similarly, both the PP and the PSOE highlight their willingness to “join efforts to meet the needs of the municipality and achieve the best results in each and every one of the management areas.”

Beyond political acronyms and partisan interests, local leaders prioritize transparency and team consensus as the main axes of the government project signed for the coming years.

In the case of San Juan de la Rambla, the Mayor’s Office will go to the head of the list of the Independent Association of San Juan de la Rambla (AIS-CC), Juan Ramos, a political force that came second in the elections and, Until now, a government partner of the PSOE as a result of the so-called Pact of Concord, made official on May 26, 2019.
In this case, the three councilors of AIS-CC will govern with the two of the Unified Assembly of the People of San Juan de la Rambla (AUP)-Sí se puede and the only councilor of the PP, leaving the PSOE, winner of 28M, in opposition , and to Nueva Canarias (NC).

Other alliances
The North has not yet closed all the pending deals. Los Silos remain, where everything seems to indicate that the PSOE and USP will reach an agreement; Puerto de la Cruz, a municipality in which it is planned to reissue the current one between the PSOE and the Portuense Citizen Assembly (ACP), although “significant” steps have not yet been taken to achieve it, and Icod de los Vinos, a municipality in which the The most probable option is a pact between Alternativa Icodense and the PP.

Garachico is perhaps the most difficult to reach, since everything will depend on which party manages to seduce the two PSOE mayors, whether CC or A’Gara, led by the acting mayor and the former mayor, José Heriberto González and Ramón Miranda, respectively. .
