SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government Council of the Canary Islands has authorized this Thursday the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, at the proposal of its acting counselor Sebastián Franquis, to pay 10,048,090 euros to the joint venture that is executing the works of the second phase of the La Aldea highway, on the island of Gran Canaria, for price reviews of contracted materials and services once more than two years have elapsed since the start of the works and more than 20% has been completed of the work, as stipulated in the Public Sector Contracts Law.

Although in this case this price review is carried out on an ordinary basis, the Ministry of Public Works has carried out several extraordinary price reviews in recent months to deal with the high costs of the prices of construction materials due to the economic crisis. and supplies caused worldwide by the war between Ukraine and Russia and the rise in fuel prices, among other factors.

These price reviews seek to adapt the prices that the public administration pays to the companies that carry out their projects to the real prices of the construction materials and to the possible changes in the projects.

In accordance with the Public Sector Contracts Law, the price review file submitted to the Council by Sebastián Franquis includes the technical report of the Price Review Supervision Service, and the contractor’s compliance with said review.

Therefore, the expenses corresponding to the payment of the additional ones for the first and second regular periodic price reviews have been authorized, that is, once 20% of execution has been reached and at least two years have elapsed. of the contracted work.

In this way, the Ministry will pay the UTE the stipulated item, so the works contract for the execution of the action called Agaete La Aldea Road. The El Risco-Agaete section, which was awarded in 2019 for 153,070,295 euros, increases to 163,118,386 euros.

Work on the second section of the Carretera de La Aldea began in September 2019 and as of today, the nine tunnels included in the project have already been drilled, since 80% of the 17.5 kilometers of its route pass under a tunnel.
