Peter Martin and Marta Arocha lead the proposal of the PSOE of Tenerife to the Senate. The Insular Committee of the Socialists of Tenerife unanimously approved yesterday their proposal for candidacy for the Upper House for the general elections to be held on July 23.
At the meeting, the general secretary of the PSOE in Tenerife, Pedro Martín, expressed his gratitude to the militants who, he said, have worked tirelessly for the Socialist Party in recent months. Before the Insular Committee he made a brief balance in which he outlined that in the municipal elections held on May 28o The PSOE won in 19 municipalities of Tenerifeeight of which will govern with absolute majorities.
He also referred to the fact that in 15 municipalities on the Island the Socialists increased the number of votes with respect to the elections that took place in May 2019. “We are not going to make it easy for them becauseWe are a consolidated party in Tenerife and we have plenty of reasons to win, the same reasons as the number of votes of the citizens of Tenerife who have trusted the PSOE as their strength policy for the next four years”, emphasized the president of the acting Cabildo.
Over the next few weeks, assured Pedro Martín, “we have to remind citizens of the improvement in employment datathe increase in the minimum professional wage, the labor reform… all the measures that the Socialist Party has put in place during these years and defend a country that has to be one of progress,” the PSOE reported late yesterday.
Once approved the candidacy proposal by the Insular Committee of the PSOE of Tenerife, it will be submitted to the Autonomous Executive Commission, which will subsequently issue its report and recommendation to the Federal Commission of Lists. After preparing the final opinion of the candidacies, the Federal Committee will be the body that definitively approves the proposals, something that will take place on Saturday.
Last Monday, the president-elect of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, publicly asked the insular PSOE to support to be a bad Senate candidate for the Island. “My intention is to combine parliamentary activity with work in the Cabildo and contribute everything I can to a project in which I believe, despite the difficulties: that of the PSOE,” said Martín.
The Tenerife socialists choose Pedro Martín and Marta Arona from among a list of applicants who applied, including José Antonio Valbuena, Ecological Transition Counselor of the Government of the Canary Islands; Isabel García Hernández, Councilor for Natural Environment Management of the Cabildo; the surgeon José Vicente González Bethencourt; José Antonio Estévez, councilor of El Rosario (Tenerife); the current senator, Olivia Delgado, José Antonio González and Luis Fajardo.
