SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The secretary of the Organization of the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), David Toledo, has given up on Wednesday the negotiations with Nueva Canarias (NC) to sign a nationalist bloc in the next General Elections.
“If they do not change their claims, it will be tremendously difficult,” he told journalists at a press conference in which he realized the pact between CC and AHI, plus the PP, to form the future Government of the Canary Islands.
Toledo has assumed that “times are difficult” because Friday is the deadline to form electoral coalitions and the conditions that the NC has raised “cannot be accepted” because they have been located in the “axis of the center-left” and the CC vote , whether in an investiture, some budgets or any parliamentary procedure, “it will always be conditioned to an agenda of the Canary Islands.”
Along these lines, he added that “this is not about Sánchez or Feijóo, it is about the Canary Islands.”
The Secretary General, Fernando Clavijo, has expressed himself in similar terms, who has assumed that the Generals are very “important” because in this last Legislature “the citizens have seen that those who have voted for nationalism” –referring to Catalonia and the Basque Country — have made “important progress” and that the territories “that are part of two franchises” have seen how their claims have not been met.
Thus, he has said that “the last example” occurred in the General State Budgets (PGE) where thanks to CC it was possible to apply the 60% bonus of personal income tax in La Palma, a game of 100 million for the reconstruction of the island or the review of transport costs.
“This has not been claimed by a socialist government and if the PP governs it will be the same”, he stressed, given that in both parties “there is voting discipline”, something that they have suffered in the Canary Islands “in their own flesh” and that has been a “patent proof” of the importance of having “independent men and women” in Congress and the Senate.
