SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Agrupación Socialista Gomera (ASG) and Nueva Canarias-Coalición Canaria (NC-CC) have reached an agreement for the governance of San Sebastián de La Gomera. In this way, Angélica Padilla will be the new mayoress of the capital, while Libertad Ramos will hold the first mayoralty. Thus, the new government group will be made up of seven councilors: six from ASG and one from NC-CC.
Both Padilla and Ramos, who were accompanied by the general secretary of ASG, Casimiro Curbelo, and the insular secretary of CC, Víctor Chinea, explained that this agreement represents “the sentiment of a broad majority expressed on May 28, and with the It is intended to give stability to the municipality.
In this sense, they advanced that the distribution of government responsibilities has been done in line with the challenges of the municipality and the functionality of the local administration, “with the purpose of making it more efficient and with the capacity to face the challenges of the future”.
Angélica Padilla assured that this agreement was born from the conviction of responding to the will of the residents of San Sebastián, “with the aim of having an open, close and committed government from the outset.” In this way, she specified that “it is time to take the helm of the capital to materialize the government program agreed with the NC-CC, and that it is nourished by the approaches already exposed during the electoral campaign.”
For his part, the elected NC-CC councilor, Libertad Ramos, asserted that he joins this agreement with the new members of the ASG municipal group with the aim of “promoting and modernizing the different aspects that the city requires and demands.” Likewise, she insisted that the pact “is the prelude for the capital to have a cohesive and strong team in charge of municipal tasks.”
The constitution of the new municipal Corporation will be next Saturday, June 17, starting at 12:00 in the Plenary Hall of the San Sebastián de La Gomera City Council.
