Despite the attempts of Carmen Luisa Castro (PP), winner of the 28M elections, with nine councilors, five from the CC and another five from the PSOE, formations that governed together the last term, in Güímar no governance agreement has yet been signed .
The former mayor, who already governed with the CC, insists that “the most natural pact is with them”, but from the nationalist ranks nobody has taken the first step, beyond the formal congratulations the day after the elections of Gustavo Pérez to the winner of the elections. “Many congratulations, Luisi. In order for a pact between PSOE and CC to be reissued, they would need the support of the mayor of United Sí Podemos, Nayra Caraballero, but this confluence does not vote for the nationalists, but it would not vote for the PP either. Therefore, by ensuring the favorable vote of Carlos Llarena (Nueva Canarias), the former popular councilor could return to the Mayor’s Office, although in a minority (10 councilors). From the supramunicipal bodies of the two parties that the Government and Cabildo have agreed to, efforts are being made to reach a PP-CC stability agreement in the municipality, despite the history of confrontations.
