They should have started yesterday, but the weather warnings have forced us to wait a bit, so it will be throughout this week, in all probability tomorrow Thursday, when the expected works to convert the site into a the one known as the tome stood, at the head of the Las Teresitas de Santa Cruz beach, in a 300-space car park, with an investment of 357,000 euros.

In the 7,320 square meters of surface that this space has, 259 places will be enabled for light vehicles, another 29 for motorcycles, plus seven for PRM vehicles. There will also be four modules, with six seats each, for bicycles and one reserved for the Local Police. It will also be illuminated with 35 light points powered by solar panels.

The duration of this work is about two months, so it is expected that by the end of July a space will be available in which there will be no charge for parking. The work will consist of adapting the floor of the site and raising the perimeter walls, made of concrete, about two meters high, in addition to placing the metal gate through which the parking lot will be accessed.

The acting mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, valued yesterday as “very positive the start of the works to condition the parking area at the head of Las Teresitas beach, which is a commitment that we had acquired with the neighbors and neighbors of San Andrés”.

Bermúdez stressed that this is “an important action that will mean having 300 parking spaces that will allow access to the entire commercial area of the town and could already be available from next August, at the same time that progress is being made with the remodeling from Calle Dique, with the idea of making it an area for pedestrian and commercial use”.

The acting councilor for Public Services of the capital’s City Council, Carlos Tarife, pointed out, for his part, that “it is great news for the city, that they are going to begin this week, the works of these much-needed and demanded car parks users of Las Teresitas, so that they can be enjoyed within an estimated period of two months. That is, this very summer”.

Tarife explained that “the works that are going to be carried out are paving and asphalting, installation of lighting and signaling systems, as well as providing the space with a solar installation.”

The mayor also recalled that “it was a commitment that had been made and that, finally, is going to come true, to improve our beach and provide it with all the necessary services.”
