Another local Socialist Party that has no one to agree with on the left is that of Granadilla de Abona. Even though his mayoral candidate, Jennifer Miranda, won the municipal elections last Sunday by getting 6,348 votes and 11 councillors, does not reach a majority of 13 councilors and only has as possible partners Canarian Coalition (10 councilors), Partido Popular (2) and Vox (2), which add up to 14 councilors. With them there are no ideological affinities, especially with Vox.
The Canarian Coalition, headed by the acting mayor José Domingo Regalado, and the Popular Party have begun to negotiate in parallel to the contacts of the regional leaderships of both parties to reach agreements on the Government of the Canary Islandsthe Council of Tenerife and 15 municipalities. Their only possibility is to form a minority government (12 councilors) with the external support of the two Vox councillors, who would only have to abstain to promote this alliance. Everything also depends on what the regional leaderships of both parties decide.
José Domingo Regalado does not want to comment on the negotiations with the other political formations or the options to repeat as mayor of Granadilla de Abona, even if it is in a minority government. “This is not the time to speak in the media, it is time to negotiate and seek common ground for the good of the neighbors. For the rest, we are satisfied with the results of the last elections. We are very few votes away from PSOE and we have noticed that a large number of neighbors support us”, Regalado limited himself to assuring, to place the assessments on the contacts to form pacts “later”, when those conversations mature.
