The negotiating commission of the Popular Party of Santa Cruz held the first meetings yesterday with the Canary Islands Coalition and PSOE to put on the table the possible pacts that give a Government to the capital City Council for June 17, the date on which the new municipal corporations.

Mutism and prudence prevailed among the political formations that preferred not to comment on the content of the aforementioned meetings, in which, predictably, the PP put its conditions on the tables to reach an agreement.

As advanced by the PP candidate, Carlos Tarife, his intention is that whoever chooses to be mayor must be there for four years, which could affect the final decision on the holder of the Mayor’s Office. In addition, the main proposals included in the PP program for Santa Cruz will be addressed.

What seems clear is that the parties at the municipal level are showing much more reluctance when it comes to communicating their meetings than their leaders at the insular and regional level, who yesterday reported on the start of the meetings to reach agreements in these scopes. Both Manuel Domínguez’s PP, Ángel Víctor Torres’ PSOE and Fernando Clavijo’s CC announced the start of contacts.
