SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The University of La Laguna (ULL) will host this Thursday and Friday the ‘II Conference on Mountain Risks and Prevention: Coordination of Rescue Teams’ with which it is intended to bring action protocols and risks associated with rescues closer to society in the mountains, something that in recent years has acquired an important social notoriety.
The objective is to train and raise awareness about mountain rescues, so that the participants acquire the essential theoretical knowledge about mountain rescues and that they know the coordination between the different means and resources.
The conferences are mainly aimed at administration technicians and personnel in charge of responding to and dealing with emergency situations, although they will also be open to all professionals, associations and individuals interested in risk prevention in the mountains, according to a note from the ULL.
Thus, this Thursday, at the César Manrique Lecture Hall on the Guajara Campus of the University of La Laguna, eight experts will address the different components that directly or indirectly affect mountain rescues, such as weather conditions, emergency services, the type of of incidents, the use of drones or mountain medicine.
The sessions will be inaugurated by the Island Security Director of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rubén Fernández; the rector of the University of La Laguna, Francisco García; and the technical director of the Teide Cable Car, Luis Pintor Sepúlveda.
As early as Friday, the participants will be able to attend a drill in the Teide National Park, so that registered people can learn first-hand about the existing coordination and management systems for these emergencies.
The objective is that attendees have an applied opportunity to acquire or increase their knowledge on prevention and promotion of safety in the natural environment.
These conferences are organized by the Chair for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilient Cities of the University of La Laguna, the Tenerife Fire Consortium and the Pico del Teide SA Cable Car
