The acting mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez (PSOE), affirmed yesterday that he has started “the first talks” with a view to the formation of the next local government and that he is willing “to negotiate with all political groups”, except with Vox Of course, he stressed that “what is on the table is the clear and resounding message that the citizens of the municipality have given that my figure is in charge of this institution”, in relation to the electoral results obtained by the Laguna PSOE on the night of last Sunday, becoming the most voted force in the municipality with a total of ten councillors, three more than in 2019.

This is how Gutiérrez responded yesterday to questions from the media about the start of negotiations. “The first conversations that we have held are along the lines of seeking a stable government in the municipality of Laguna for four years. We are not going to sit down in any case, as I already said in the pre-campaign, with the political formation that represents the ultra-right, VOX. The possibilities are wide and that must be studied ”, he pointed out.

Although he pointed out that “it is clear that we have to open the first contacts with those formations that are to the left of the PSOE party, as is normal, but we will see what happens in the coming days.”

A progress pact with the sum of the ten councilors of the PSOE together with the two achieved by Unidas se puede and the two of Drago Verdes Canarias, who enters the City Council, would give the necessary majority of 14 councilors to govern. But the PSOE could also achieve a majority along with the eight councilors obtained by CC.

In this regard, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez insisted that “government stability in the municipality of La Laguna right now requires talking to all the political formations that have been represented and, from there, all possibilities are on the table, we know that there is a predisposition by all formations to consolidate this government ”.

“However, I reiterate, beyond the negotiations that there are with the formations -he continued explaining-, it will be the PSOE militancy that will finally decide with whom we will govern in the next four years and the citizens have said that this mayor has to be aware of front of the Corporation. Regarding these first conversations, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez indicated that he has spoken with Alberto Rodríguez, Drago Verdes Canarias candidate, and Rubens Ascanio, from Unidas se puede, as well as with the CC candidate, Jonathan Domínguez, although in this case through of mobile messaging, and although he did not detail the content of the conversations, he pointed out that it was only “a first contact”.

Regarding the possibility that Drago Verdes requests the mayor’s office to join, Gutiérrez replied that “right now we are not talking about mayors or councilors, I think that if that question comes from a formation it would worry me. We are talking about the electoral program, the political project and stability in the City Council”.

As for that fourth councilor who did not get the PP by a few votes, and who the PP has said that they will analyze if it can be achieved, the acting mayor replied that “I understand that it is very complicated for the Electoral Board (which considers the scrutiny tomorrow) modify what the majority of the citizens of the municipality have transferred”.

United Assembly can be

On the other hand, the candidate of Unidas se puede, Rubens Ascanio, informed on his social networks of the meeting, yesterday afternoon, of the Lagunera Citizen Assembly of the party to assess the electoral results “and the necessary roadmap to achieve a programmatic agreement of the Laguna left, which allows us to continue advancing as a municipality”.
