Dogs will be able to get on trams and buses without a carrier from this Thursday but only one per vehicle

Large dogs, which do not require a carrier (more than 10 kilos), will be able to travel from this Thursday on the trams and the insular buses of titsa. Until now, dogs of less than that weight could go with a carrier. From now on, both adults and children can go on public transport without a carrier but with a series of restrictions. These are:

Measures on the tram

As for the tram, Only one dog can go in each vehicle. Metrotenerife, the Cabildo company that manages this means of public transportrecalled this Wednesday on his Twitter account all the rules that passengers must comply with when loading their pet.

They must travel in the last wagon with double doors in the direction of travel

In addition to only one dog being allowed per tram, these they must wear a muzzle and a short leash. They must also travel in the last wagon with double doors in the direction of travel of the tram. And inside the wagon they must be located exclusively in the marked area.

Metrotenerife remembers that in no case may the dog occupy a seat and his manager must remain with him at all times. It is forbidden for dogs without a carrier to travel on board from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In the case of small dogs they can continue traveling, as up to now, in carrier. These rules are for dogs traveling without a carrier.

About which wagon the people who are allergic to animalsas asked by a user on the tram’s Twitter account, the company answered: “Allergy sufferers may travel in the first wagon in the direction of travel, 3 wagons away from the defined location for the dog without a carrier”.

And regarding if a passenger brought two dogs, instead of one, the company clarified: “If there is already a dog on the tram, you must wait for the next one (it is quickly detected since there is only one location, duly signposted, where the dog will be found). another dog). In case of taking 2 without a carrier, they will not be able to travel on the tram”.

Measures in the buses of Titsa

Dogs without carriers will also be able to travel starting this Thursday in the Public buses from Titsa, which is also managed by the Cabildo de Tenerife. These are the rules in this means of transport, as the company recalled yesterday on its social networks.

There is no limitation of places for dogs or other domestic animals of less than 10 kilos, as long as they travel in their carrier that does not exceed 60x35x35 centimeters.

In buses there is no limitation for dogs or other animals under 10 kilos

Dogs can only travel in accessible buseswith space enabled for wheelchairs. You can never occupy a seat or travel either on stairs or in corridors. Dogs must also go with muzzle and held by a short leash less than 50 centimetersglued to their caretaker and provided with a muzzle.

They will not be able to use this service between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., nor between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday, nor when the influx of customers is such that it prevents the safety of passengers and the animal, being the driver / or inspection personnel who determine it.

The driver or inspection personnel are authorized not to allow access to the animal to the bus, or request that they leave the vehicle, to those dogs with aggressive or dangerous behavior, lack of hygiene or wet.

The client who accesses with dogs over 10 kilos to the bus is responsible for the damage that it may cause, as well as keeping the animal’s administrative and health authorizations up to date. Vehicle liability insurance only covers customers, in no case pet dogs.

assistance dogs -guide dogs, sound signaling dogs, support or service dogs, warning or medical alert dogs or dogs trained to preserve the integrity of the person- may travel at all times with the person they are assisting and in the entire fleet without limitation of places as long as they prove to be authorized for these functions by approved centers.

In the event that there is already a dog weighing more than 10 kilos inside when accessing the vehicle, an assistance dog or more will be allowed access to it.
