Elia Sacramento, spokesperson for the second association mentioned, stressed that the Puerto de la Cruz City Council had given the order that the terraces adhere to the line of the façade, but not all businessmen had complied with it. As a result, the space available for citizens to walk is minimal, according to the Diputación del Común in a statement.
“We are not against terraces, but we want them to be organized so that all citizens, with or without disabilities, have space,” Sacramento requested.
For her part, Ana Mengíbar, spokesperson for the ‘We Want to Move’ Association, announced that they will continue to go to the Diputación del Común to raise similar situations in other municipalities on the island.
Rafael Yanes undertook to request information from the Puerto de la Cruz City Council on compliance with the municipal ordinance and current legislation. In addition, he added that “the worst disability that exists is the inability to comply with the laws.”
