The helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands has rescued two injured hikers on Monday, one of them in the municipality of La Laguna, in Tenerife, and another in Valle Gran Rey, in La Gomera, according to informed the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
One of the incidents occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operating room received an alert that a 53-year-old man had suffered a fall on a path in an area with difficult access. in the area of El Batán and required medical assistance.
Once at the scene, rescuers from the GES helicopter reached the affected person, gave him initial assistance, immobilized him and hoisted him onto the aircraft to evacuate him to the Tenerife North Airport. Once on the ground, SUC personnel assisted the hiker and transferred him to the hospital due to trauma to the lower limb. Members of the Tenerife Fire Consortium intervened in the device deployed in the area.
The other event occurred around 5:00 p.m., when a woman suffered a fall in an area that was difficult to access in the Los Reyes area, in Valle Gran Rey, and could not walk, so 1-1-2 activated immediately. immediately the necessary emergency resources to intervene in the area.
Once there, SUC personnel, with the collaboration of the Valle Gran Rey Fire Brigade, assisted the victim in the place where she was. Rescuers from the GES helicopter reached the injured woman and proceeded to immobilize her.
Together with firefighters and SUC personnel, they evacuated her to a safe area to hoist her onto the aircraft and transfer her to La Gomera Airport.
Once on the ground, SUC personnel proceeded to transfer him by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Hospital after presenting moderate lower limb trauma, except for complications.
