SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Tenerife Consumption Vouchers campaign, launched by the Island Council, has generated sales worth more than 750,000 euros in local shops, catering establishments and personal businesses throughout the island. In total, 345 establishments from around twenty municipalities have joined this initiative whose membership period is still active.
From the insular area of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, it is highlighted that in less than ten days 37,500 bonds were sold, all available. From May 8, the first day of the campaign, until today around 95.5% of these vouchers have been exchanged, while the remaining 5% must be done before June 11, the last day available.
In total, 5,489 people have purchased one or more vouchers, which represents a new participation record compared to previous editions. Each voucher has a value of 20 euros, of which the Cabildo contributes half and the other 50 percent is borne by the consumer
The acting counselor for the area, Carmen Luz Baso, highlighted that both the volume of sales and the number of people who have purchased vouchers have continued to grow compared to the first campaigns, which “demonstrates the effectiveness of this type of initiative to encourage purchases and contribute to decentralizing them from the areas with the greatest commercial flow”.
“Not only does it mean a short-term cash injection, but at the same time it is an important claim for local businesses and personal businesses that seek to build loyalty and win new customers,” added Carmen Luz Baso, who explained that in order to benefit For the largest number of municipalities, parameters were established to exchange the bonds, so that 34% were concentrated in the largest municipalities (Santa Cruz, La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, Arona, Adeje) and the other 66% in the rest of the island.
The vouchers have a wallet format, so that the consumer can freely distribute the amount of the vouchers they want to use in each establishment, until their balance or the established limit per trade is exhausted. In this sense, each person can redeem a maximum cumulative amount of one hundred euros in the same establishment, in one or more purchases.
These vouchers cannot be used, in any case, in the acquisition of tobacco or electronic cigarettes, lotteries and/or bets, mobile phone recharges, cards or PINs for Internet purchases, alcoholic beverages or gift cards, subscriptions to online platforms or other related products. Nor will there be the possibility of returning cash, neither in the purchase nor in the return of the product.
