The North smells of change in 7 of its 15 municipalities

Almost half of the municipalities in the north of Tenerife They have opted to change their municipal governments or, at least, the balance between the different forces. The elections they leave in the air the continuity of at least 7 of the 15 mayoralties. There is sure change in Buenavista, where the mayoress will be Eva García (PSOE); Antonio Hernández (PP) and José Heriberto González (CC) lose their absolute majorities in La Guancha and Garachico; Javier Sierra (Aicod) surprises by beating Francis González (CC) in Icod, although he will have to agree; Carmen Luz Baso (PSOE) wins in Los Silos and could govern with United Yes We Can; Sandra Izquierdo (PSOE) prevails in Tacoronte and sows many doubts about the continuity of Daniel Díaz (NC), and the socialist Ezequiel Domínguez prevails in San Juan de la Rambla, but he needs to agree and there are several possible majorities.

tacoronte

Sandra Izquierdo’s PSOE wins the elections, with 5 councilors; Noemí García relaunches Canarian Coalition, which rises from 3 to 5. The mayor, José Daniel Díaz (NC) is stuck with four councilors. José Caro (PP) triples the results of four years ago and goes up from 1 to 3. SSP goes down from 2 to 1; We are Tacoronte, by Carlos Medina, enters with two representatives, and Cs sinks when going from 6 to 1. It will take a tripartite to add an absolute majority. If PSOE and CC agree, they would only need one more mayor to govern (Cs or SSP would suffice).

the willow

Mariano Pérez (CC) wins the elections again with an absolute majority. He maintains 7 of the 13 councilors of the Corporation, where the Independent Association of El Sauzal-Nueva Canarias (AISA-NC), with Daniel Fajardo, is second force with 4 councilors. PSOE and PP achieve a mayor.

The slaughter

Ignacio Rodríguez (PSOE) once again wiped out 11 of the 13 councilors of the Corporation. He achieves his eleventh straight majority. He has been governing for 40 years and the support does not diminish election after election. He is on his way to 44 years in the Mayor’s Office. The PP maintains its 2 councillors.

The victory

Juan Antonio García Abreu (PSOE) increases the absolute majority he obtained in 2019, from 7 to 9 councilors, and consolidates the change in trend. He asked for confidence to govern without pacts and he will be able to do it. CC, with Dulce Gutiérrez, drops from 4 to 3, and the PP, which also changes its leader after a convulsive mandate and opted for Juan Adonais Pérez, loses one representative and goes from 2 to 1.

Saint Ursula

Juan Acosta (AISU) revalidates the absolute majority, although he loses a mayor compared to 2019. The PP, with Estela Fernández, maintains three representatives; the PSOE achieves that Raquel Conejo enters the Corporation, and Vox, with Mariana Cueva, achieves its only mayor in the 15 municipalities of the North.

the orotava

CC once again sweeps La Orotava with 13 councilors. In the opposition, the PSOE, with María Jesús Alonso, drops from 5 to 4 councilors. Assembly for La Orotava, with Aída Salazar, maintains 2 councilors. The Popular Party, with Ildefonso González, gets 2.

Cross port

Marco González (PSOE) was on the verge of his first absolute majority with 10 of 21 councillors. The rest of the parties worsen or maintain their results. The Portuense Citizen Assembly (ACP), led by David Hernández, drops from 3 to 2, but it will be key to forming a government. The PP, led by Ángel Montañés, goes from 8 to 7 councillors. CC repeated with Sandra Rodríguez and maintains two councilors.

The Realejos

The municipality traces the results of 4 years ago. the jump of Manuel Dominguez regional politics does not take its toll on Adolfo González, who maintains a resounding absolute majority with 15 councilors. The PSOE is left with the 5 councilors it had, like CC, where only Isabel Pérez will be.

San Juan de la Rambla

The PSOE of Ezequiel Domínguez maintains its 4 councilors and the Canary Coalition, with Juan Ramos, rises from 2 to 3, which would allow the current government partners to maintain the current pact for four more years. However, there are other alternatives for both PSOE and CC. AUP-SSP is left with 2 councilors and Nueva Canarias and PP get one mayor each.

the guancha

The PP of Antonio Hernández loses the absolute majority after tying 6 councilors with the CC of Alejandro Herrera. The only councilor of the PSOE, María José García, will be the key to the future municipal government.

Icod of the Wines

Javier Sierra’s Icodense Alternative was the big surprise in 2019 and yesterday won the elections. He rose from 5 to 8 councilors. The current mayor, Francis González (CC), is the big loser, since he goes from 10 to 7 councilors. Cory Yanes relaunches the PP from 1 to 4 councilors and becomes the key to the majority. David Alonso’s renewed PSOE worsens the results and drops from 3 to 2 representatives. Javier Sierra and Cory Yanes seem doomed to understand each other. CC has a very difficult time reaching an agreement with Aicod and, even more so, with the PP, whose candidate was in CC and does not have a good relationship with González.

garachico

José Heriberto González (CC) loses the absolute majority, is left with 5 councilors, and will have to find a pact to continue in the Mayor’s Office. A’Gara, with the former nationalist mayor Ramón Miranda, improves results and removes 4 councilors. Yazmina Luis’s PSOE, with 2 councilors, may be the key to forming a government. It seems more difficult for González and Miranda to understand each other again.

Buena Vista del Norte

Eva García (PSOE) obtains an absolute majority that leaves Sí se Puede without its only Mayoralty in Tenerife. CC does not get representation. The Socialists, who had won the 2019 elections by 51 votes, reappeared in the town at the cost of the decline of SSP (-1) and CC (-1).

The Silos

Carmen Luz Baso’s PSOE wins the elections and could form a government with United Yes We Can, which achieves two councilors. The mayoress Macarena Fuentes (CC) and her partner Raquel García (PP) will not be able to continue governing, since the CC drops from 4 to 3 and the popular ones are left with 2.

The tank

The PSOE of Mayor Esther Morales improves the absolute majority that it obtained in 2019 with Román Martín and achieves 8 of the 11 councilors. CC is left with 2 and the former mayor Jesús Fariña (PP) enters the corporation.
