SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 28. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez, stressed that election day on the islands is taking place with “absolute normality”, without the slightest incident, and with a turnout that he considers “similar”. to 2019, after growing by almost 3 points.

“There is no incident. Nothing has happened that we should review,” said the counselor at a press conference from the headquarters of the Presidency of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, when he considered that participation has moved in figures “similar to those of the last process electoral”.

“The percentage of participation of 26.84 is a slight increase in the electorate as a whole and it remains, approximately, I would say, in the same figures with these variations,” he asserted.

Specifically, participation in the regional elections has increased to 26.19 percent, compared to 23.33 percent in 2019, which represents an advance of 2.86 points.

By islands and for the elections to the Canary Islands Parliament, where participation has increased the most is in La Gomera and La Palma, with 13.10 and 10.62 percentage points more. Where the improvement in participation is less is in Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, with 1.05 and 1.41 more points, respectively.

In Tenerife, for its part, 3.43 more points of the electorate have gone to vote before 1:00 p.m., placing the general figure at 26.84 percent. In El Hierro the percentage of participation stands at 27.11 percent, 6.65 points more than in 2019.
