The work that will convert the coastline of valleseco in a new bathing point in the capital, the one that affects the so-called puddle area, is heading for the final stretch that will lead it to be ready next June. Those who pass through this point of the chicharrero coastline on a daily basis can see how hard work is being done to make up for the time lost with the accident of one of the access walkways, which made it necessary to repeat the placement of the entire structure. At this time, the two pedestrian walkways have been completed, which must now be conditioned to complete access to the bathing area. Another of the visible advances is the first of the two floating swim platformswhich has already been placed and the role it is to play can be clearly seen.

Service buildings are already a reality, currently focusing on work on the placement of sanitary ware and interior and exterior carpentry. Some buildings that in turn support the green slope that will make up the vertical garden in which palm trees and large trees have already been planted, which will dress the two buildings.

One of the two stands that will serve as a solarium has also been completed, specifically the one that stands in the southern area, while those that will occupy the northern area will be finished throughout this week.

The ramp that will make the bathing area accessible will also be installed this week, while the installations in the north square are being carried out to proceed with its paving next week.

Finally, work is being done on the paving of the rest of the work, at the same time that everything detailed above is being worked on.

All these interventions correspond to the three groups of actions in which the work is distributed, specifically the Charcos Beach, Jetties and Maritime Defenses. Thus, in the so-called Playa de Charcos, a bathing area (272 linear meters of coastline) will be conditioned, whose ground surfaces will be more or less flooded depending on the tides. It will also have a promenade and relationship area (350 linear meters) that constitutes the articulating platform of the complex and from which pedestrian access is produced from the promenade of Avenida de Anaga and towards Playa de la Arena in Valleseco. This part will be one of the last to be done.

The other unit of action is the one made up of the two pedestrian walkways, the so-called Ladera Verde, a landscaped and wooded rest area, as well as a sheltered threshold for Playa de Charcos, the Plaza-Terraza, a service space for users of the Charcos beach with outdoor showers and area as a reception from the sea. This unit of action is closed by the Plaza Norte, a general service reception space for Playa de Charcos.

The last of the parts is the pontoons area, structures that constitute the elements that delimit the water of Playa de Charcos, as a bathing and sports area, offering resting, playing and solarium platforms.

It should be remembered that the Maritime Defense and Puddle Zone Management works of the Valleseco Functional Area started in June 2021, with an execution period of 22 months (which has been prolonged) and a budget of 13,632,573 euros.

The block

The part of El Bloque has become the outpost of what the opening to the sea in the area of puddles will mean for Santa Cruz. This part of the Valleseco coastline, which was inaugurated at the end of February, has become a meeting point, firstly for the residents of the area, and secondly for the youngest of the capital who have become in its main users, and that on weekends they occupy their spaces. The Acapulco beach, right next door, involved in controversy over its use for dogs, has once again been for the exclusive use of people, once again prohibiting the entry of pets
