He City Hall of La Laguna has approved the purchase, through the municipal company Muvisa, of three parcels in the urban area of weaving for the construction of a building public car parks capable of at least 180 seats. The planned investment for this operation is 630,400 euros.

The purchase operation “represents a decisive boost when it comes to solving the parking problems in Tejina, one of the actions most demanded by the residents of the town”, considers the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, who pointed out that the City Council and Muvisa “we continue working to carry out similar actions in other parts of the municipality where the lack of parking spaces is a recurring problem.”

The three plots, which together add up to an area of approximately 1,800 square meters, are located in front of the TF-16 main road, Tomás González Rivero street and Arriba street, while bordering the Barranco de las Cuevas and La Camino Palma, which is pedestrianized, which guarantees accessibility and facilitates traffic management for vehicles that want to use the future parking building, which will be managed by Muvisa itself.

The current PGO classifies these plots as consolidated urban land, intended for closed buildings for collective residential use with a maximum of three floors above ground level, and garages and car services are allowed as compatible use in all categories, therefore that a building destined to car parks has a perfect place from the urban point of view.

The works for the selection and acquisition of these plots began in December 2020, when Muvisa requested land offers. Land was sought in the area of the urban nucleus from the Plaza de la Iglesia to the area of La Castellana, which would allow its use as temporary or permanent parking and could be modified to obtain greater profitability, in order to obtain, at that time, space for the largest number of parking spaces, both below ground and above ground, making its exploitation sustainable from an economic point of view.

A total of seven offers were received, which ended up being discarded until only one was considered viable (actually, a group of three plots), given that the others did not comply with the minimum required area, the classification of the land prevented its availability for parking or the morphology complicated its qualification as a public car park.

The most relevant characteristics of the plot formed by the three cadastral properties (1,776 square meters) is the difference in level between the ends of the plots on the front facing Tomás González Rivero street (approximately four meters high), and its ideal location with easy access to three different road branches from the center of Tejina.

Muvisa has been operating since 2014, by virtue of an order from the City Council, different public parking lots in the areas with the greatest commercial and administrative activity in the municipality. In this line, it plans to enable this new one in the town of Tejina and to continue carrying out prospecting for land likely to be used for the same purpose in the different urban centers of the municipality.
