The candidate of PSOE for re-election as president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, met with the socialist candidates for the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, and the mayor of Güímar, Airam Puerta, to announce the construction of the first hydroelectric power station in Tenerifein which 800 million euros will be invested.

Airam Puerta has stated that being able to deliver this news “is a dream come true” that he has been “pursuing for years”, while Pedro Martín has declared that “this hydroelectric jump in Güímar represents a change in the consumption of renewable energy”.

Pedro Martín has also presented the project of ‘200 megawatts’, a plan that wants to distribute shares among self-employed people with small businesses and town halls, to ensure that the money generated by renewables “does not go to large multinationals, but rather stays in Tenerife and among taxpayers.”

The candidate for re-election as president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has assured that the fight against climate change is the priority of his government, which is why upon his arrival they declared “a climate emergency on the islands.”

For this reason, he has stressed the importance of ending his legislature with the law against climate change.

Torres has listed the innovations to promote renewable energy in the archipelago and has said that they are “fundamental projects because it is the conservation of our land and the protection of its nature.”

The Güímar hydroelectric plant project aims to become a sustainable space, “a fundamental storage center for the introduction of simple energies”, but to achieve this, he said, “it is necessary to vote for the PSOE”, and he has insisted that “They need those votes to keep moving forward.”
